The challenge.

Upgrading Willcox Granite’s entire suite of Memorial Management solutions

George Willcox Granite, the UK’s leading granite wholesaler, approached ioSTUDIOS to undertake a comprehensive transformation of its entire suite of digital systems and solutions.

The core objective of this multi-faceted, complex project is to ensure Willcox Granite’s digital offering is up-to-date, performing well and scalable. Many of its existing systems have become outdated and need to be re-written to match advances in: 

–Security as technical support for each system would soon be expiring.

-UX and UI where various journeys across the suite are not at best practice standards, and existing styles have become outdated and off-brand. 

-Functionality to replace clunky and inefficient processes and systems. 

-Integration where the current tech stack is of an age and standard that makes integration and development difficult. 

Willcox Granite has ambitions to grow, scale and innovate, but is prioritising the rebuilding of its digital systems in a bid to reduce technical debt across the business, making this project a matter of key strategic importance.

The solution.

A series of new, automated, up-to-date, commercially positioned solutions.

With both technical and commercial considerations in mind, ioSTUDIOS presented a thorough, prioritised roadmap of projects spanning over three years, with updates running concurrently to maximise efficiency.

This structure ensures individual aspects of the transformation are ordered logically and efficiently from a technical point of view, whilst focussing on a swift ROI by prioritising key revenue driving solutions early on in the roadmap.

As part of the digital transformation, our digital experts will redevelop: 

-The back office site used by the in-house customer team to raise and manage jobs

-The retail site used by retail clients to raise and manage their own quotes and orders

-The trade site used by trade clients to manage their own work and projects

-The management system used by internal super admin users to manage each of the various systems and their settings, reports and administrative functions.

Each of these system rewrites will encompass their own discovery, multiple development sprints, QA, UAT and implementation processes.

The result.

Digital Transformation providing significant business changing improvements to Willcox Granite’s core operation.

At the time of writing, the ioSTUDIOS Project Team has rewritten and enhanced a new back office solution and is halfway to completion on rewriting the retail system.

The new versions of these solutions have best practice UX and UI, resulting in a frontend system that is commercially positioned as well as on-brand, alongside streamlined user journeys that are intuitive and easy-to-use. This keeps back office users happy, and ensures customers can easily complete key actions around any front-facing systems.

The sites have been developed in the latest technology, which means they are easy to integrate with, build on and amend, and are safe, solid and secure. Core functionality has been enhanced across the suite to ensure a slick, up-to-date, feel and experience for all users.

Following ioSTUDIOS’ recommendations, Willcox Granite’s workforce will be reviewing any deployed solutions once a quarter and will feedback their thoughts via a series of internal workshops. This feedback will be reviewed by a number of internal ‘champions’, with any items that hold sufficient merit being added to the development backlog. This will ensure the systems perform at an optimal level for those that are using them, and are flexible to the needs and wants of key stakeholders.

To ensure the digital transformation is completed efficiently, ioSTUDIOS is managing a number of projects concurrently. While one project is being developed and QA’ed, the discovery for another can begin, resulting in the seamless development of – and transition to – new technologies, functionality and systems in the most productive and least disruptive way possible.
